Ella Mae Pearce Blackley, 90, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 at the home of her daughter. She was the widow of Ralph C. Blackley being married for sixty years.

A native of Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Lizzie Pearce. She was a member of Banks United Methodist Church, a homemaker and also operated the Wilton Grocery Store for over twenty years.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday June 9, 2016 at Banks United Methodist Church by Rev. Gina Miller. Burial will be in the church cemetery with a reception to follow.

Surviving is a daughter, Merle Blackley Alford (Mike) of Wilton, two sisters, Andelia P. Watkins of Rolesville, Sara P. Stevens of Raleigh, a granddaughter, Dawn Gooch (Eddie), granddaughter-in-law, Penny Alford and two great-grandsons, Rusty Gooch and Collin Alford and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Melvin, Laurance, Buddy, Dickie, Ester, Betty, Mildred and a daughter, Melba Carol Blackley and a grandson, Michael Wayne Alford.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, June 8, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and at other times at the home of Merle and Mike Alford.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Banks United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall Fund, 2632 NC Hwy 96, Franklinton, N.C. 27565.

Herman and I thanked your Mom so many times for the love she shared with us while we were at Banks/Grove Hill, your family was wonderful, how blessed we were to have known your Mom, Dad and you. I pray God's blesssings upon you and thank God that she had such a wonderful daughter to love her and care for her, when she needed you the most. My prayers are with you.
